New Old Heater

Last winter I had a problem keeping my chicken water nipples thawed. I either had to use a hair dryer or a diesel space heater to thaw them. This year we are going to put up this propane heater I found on Craigslist and try to keep it just above freezing. I have some other things I’ll have to do and will update the page as I do those.

The Prodigal Turkey Returns

A week and a half ago either a predator invaded my turkey pen or they tried to make escape. I found 1 dead and 3 outside the pen. I was able to get 2 of them back in but the 3rd took off into the corn field. I got to the farm this morning and found my top netting caved in. Everything looked ok so I counted the birds. I had 13 now. The one that had been out in the field had broke back in.

New Bottle Racks

Well I ordered some goat bottle racks from Premier 1 Supply. In the picture with the goats drinking they are actually installed incorrectly. In the next picture I have them correctly installed. Should save me a little time and aggravation.

Busy Day

Well today I finished up the fall cleaning for the chickens. I put up 2 more gutters to catch water drips, planted rye in the chicken run, and cleaned the last 2 pens and put down new bedding.

I also pulled some trees in the fence line and dug 2 post holes for the fencing we are working on. I gave the trees I pulled out to the goats so they can strip the leaves.
